Pendant Ocarinas

Though you may have first heard of the Ocarina through the popular video game “Legend of Zelda”, this is actually an ancient instrument that first appeared over 12,000 years ago! This clay or ceramic flute can be traced to many different cultures including Mayan, Aztec, and Incan civilizations in South and Central America, as well as cultures throughout India and China! After the Ocarina made it’s way to Europe in the 16th to 19th centuries, it gained more popularity and was played by a wider range of people. Then, during the first and second World Wars service people were even provided with Ocarinas to boost morale!

This Friday and Saturday you can pick up your own Pendant Ocarina from our shop for 10% off! The English Pendant Ocarina was invented in the 1960’s and provides an entire octave using just 4 finger holes (and 2 thumb holes). Come and check ‘em out for yourself!
