Clawhammer Banjo Basics for Beginners

Join us for our Upcoming Clawhammer Banjo Basics Workshop on Saturday, February 19th from 5pm to 6pm!

Our Clawhammer Banjo Basics Workshop will focus on beginner old-time banjo skills, with an emphasis on perfecting the foundation of playing clawhammer banjo - the "bum-ditty" strum. You will also learn how to get started using your left hand by learning a basic melody and your first 3 chords. Participants will learn the basics and be given exercises and tips for continued exploration and education.

This workshop is for the complete beginner (you don't even need to own your own banjo - just borrow one from our shop for an additional $5). Workshop cost is only $20, pre-registration and pre-payment are required, and space is limited to only 8 participants, so be sure to call today to register - (812)200-3300!

Beginner’s Bluegrass Banjo Workshop

Saturday, January 22nd - 5pm to 6pm

If you've ever been curious about playing the banjo, now is your chance to try it out! Our Beginner Banjo Workshop is made for the complete beginner - No experience necessary! Only $20! Bring your own banjo, OR borrow one from our shop for an additional $5! We will cover a brief history of the banjo, banjo setup, and some basic rolls, patterns, and techniques for your right hand using your first three chords!

Did you get a new ukulele for Christmas and now you need to learn how to play it? Then come join us for our Complete Beginner's Ukulele Workshop!

The easy to learn and fun to play ukulele is the perfect first instrument for all ages or the perfect extra accompaniment for singing along with friends and family!

In our Beginner Workshop you'll learn all the basics of the uke, including the following: tuning, beginner chords, scales, learning how to improvise, and how to play almost every song in the world with only 4 chords!!! You don't even need your own ukulele to join in on the fun - just borrow one from us!

Pre-registration and Pre-payment of $20 per person are required for this workshop as space is limited to only 8 participants! Holiday Music Jam for Beginners

Saturday, December 11th - 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Have you always wanted to increase your comfortability playing with other musicians but don't know where to start? Are you filled with holiday spirit and don't know what to do with it? Then you should join us for our Christmas Music Jam for Beginners! In this hour-long workshop we will help you learn how to improvise along with other musicians without fear and anxiety! Chords, scales, tablature, and licks will be provided for 4 different holiday songs! Beginner-level players of Ukulele, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, and Dulcimer are invited to attend! Pre-registration and Pre-payment of $20 per person are required for this workshop as space is limited to only 10 participants! Chord Melody is the perfect way to test the waters in solo-fingerstyle ukulele playing! This method of ukulele playing combines picking the melody with the strumming and chords to create a more complex and interesting ukulele arrangement!

Weed Patch PeeWee Players Preschool Music Program

Postponed until July! Stay tuned for updates!

The Weed Patch PeeWee Players is a program for 2 to 5 year olds that focuses on introducing your preschooler to different musical instruments while making music and learning fun! Classes focus on singing, moving, and playing, while getting an introduction to various rhythmic and melodic instruments.

The PeeWee Players operates in a series of 5-class sessions. Each class within the session will be completely unique and involve all new songs and focus on different instruments or playing styles each week. The PeeWee Players Music Program is modeled after the popular Kindermusic and Music Together programs and provides developmentally appropriate music classes for your preschooler to learn basic music skills in an interactive and fun environment. Our classes begin with a hands-on introduction to all of the instruments used in the PeeWee's program and progress through the basics of rhythm and keeping the beat while incorporating singing, dancing, and movement activities to keep your kiddos engaged!

Our full 5-week session is only $75! Classes occur weekly on Thursdays (hopefully beginning on Thursday, July 2nd) from 5pm to 6pm. Registration and Pre-Payment are required. Class size is limited to 8 participants and spaces fill quickly, so give us a call today to get registered!

Blues Ukulele Workshop - “Uke Got The Blues”

Are you ready to try something different with your ukulele playing?  Enhance your ukulele skills as you have fun learning to play the Blues!

In this beginner to intermediate level ukulele workshop, you will learn the 12-bar blues structure, basic blues rhythm and strumming patterns, some simple riffs and solos featuring the minor pentatonic scale, incorporating right-hand techniques with hammer-ons and pull-offs, and the classic blues turnaround!

“Build Your Own Cigar Box Kalimba” Workshop

Saturday, November 30th from 5pm to 6pm

The Kalimba (also known as mbira, marimbula, or thumb piano) is an instrument of African origin that is thought to be thousands of years old, but we think you're going to love this variation on the Kalimba made out of a cigar box! These instruments sound great, are fun and unique, and are really easy to play!

Join us at Weed Patch Music Company to build your very own Cigar Box Kalimba! Workshop cost is $50 and includes everything you need to build your own instrument. We will provide the tools and instructions and walk you through how to create your very own instrument, tune your kalimba, and learn to play your first song! This will be a very small workshop due to space constraints and registration is limited to only 4 Kalimbas (2 people maximum per kalimba)!
