Our Acoustic Guitar Workshop will focus on guitar skills for the complete beginner! We will be learning tuning, proper right hand position and how to use a pick, left hand position and placement on the neck, how to read tablature and chord diagrams, your first scale, and your first three chords! And, you'll get to learn your first song with a fun rhythm pattern!

If you've ever thought about learning to play guitar, now is your chance! No experience necessary - You don't even need your own guitar (Just borrow one from the shop for an additional $5)!! Holiday Ukulele Workshop

Friday, December 20th from 5pm to 6pm

In this fun and festive workshop, beginner and intermediate ukulele players will enjoy learning a holiday tune featuring beginner chords and strumming patterns, a basic melody line from tablature, and intermediate chord-melody fingerstyle ukulele! In just an hour, we'll be playing and singing our jolly little hearts out!

“Build Your Own Cigar Box Kalimba” Workshop

The Kalimba (also known as mbira, marimbula, or thumb piano) is an instrument of African origin that is thought to be thousands of years old, but we think you're going to love this variation on the Kalimba made out of a cigar box! These instruments sound great, are fun and unique, and are really easy to play!

Join us at Weed Patch Music Company to build your very own Cigar Box Kalimba! Workshop cost is $50 and includes everything you need to build your own instrument. We will provide the tools and instructions and walk you through how to create your very own instrument, tune your kalimba, and learn to play your first song! This will be a very small workshop due to space constraints and registration is limited to only 4 Kalimbas (2 people maximum per kalimba)! Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival

Check out some of the best Fingestyle Guitar Competitiors in the country at Brown County’s own Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival!

Join International Guitar Champions for a variety of Guitar Technique Workshops – led by champions Helen Avakian, Muriel Anderson, and Christie Lenee! Then, stop by the Friday Night Party for some serious guitar talent at The Brown County Inn. There are two stages of live music throughout the evening. Many of the competitors will be rotating through the open mic stage, along with Chuck Wills and Hondo Thompson MCing the event.. Like great music? “Listen Local” to these amazing artists!!

Saturday’s competition is a must-see! The competition will start at 11am, and will feature 30 of the best players in North America. Each will take the stage to play two songs of their choice. The final 5 competitors will be announced at the end of the afternoon competition, with the winner receiving a handbuilt guitar by Bloomington, IN luthier Thomas Roeger!

Stick around for the Saturday Night Concert after the event where the top 3 winners of the competition will be featured. The evening concert will be finished by the amazing Helen Avakian, Muriel Anderson, and Christie Lenee, former International Guitar Champions!

Weed Patch PeeWee Players Preschool Music Program

Every Thursday from 5pm to 6pm beginning on March 28th!

The Weed Patch PeeWee Players is a program for 2 to 5 year olds that focuses on introducing your preschooler to different musical instruments while making music and learning fun! Classes focus on singing, moving, and playing, while getting an introduction to various rhythmic and melodic instruments.

The PeeWee Players operates in a series of 5-class sessions. Each class within the session will be completely unique and involve all new songs and focus on different instruments or playing styles each week. The PeeWee Players Music Program is modeled after the popular Kindermusic and Music Together programs and provides developmentally appropriate music classes for your preschooler to learn basic music skills in an interactive and fun environment. Our classes begin with a hands-on introduction to all of the instruments used in the PeeWee's program and progress through the basics of rhythm and keeping the beat while incorporating singing, dancing, and movement activities to keep your kiddos engaged!

Our full 5-week session is only $75! Classes occur weekly on Thursdays (beginning on Thursday, March 28th) from 5pm to 6pm. Registration and Pre-Payment are required. Class size is limited to 10 participants, so give us a call today to get registered!

Come and join us for a fun Boomwhacker Workshop for kids happening Sunday, March 10th from 4pm to 5pm!!

Haven't heard of Boomwhackers? These fun, color-coded, plastic percussion tubes are tuned to musical pitches and have become a favorite classroom instrument around the world! Our Boomwhacker Workshop is geared towards ages 2 to 6, but don't worry - these Boomwhackers are fun for adults, too! Just $20 for this hour-long workshop (or only $10 with registration for our upcoming Weed Patch PeeWee Players Preschool Music Program)! Our Clawhammer Banjo Basics Workshop will focus on beginner old-time banjo skills, with an emphasis on perfecting the foundation of playing clawhammer banjo - the "bum-ditty" strum. We will also learn how to get started using your left hand by learning a basic melody and your first 2 chords. Participants will learn the basics and be given exercises and tips for continued exploration and education.

Brown County Bluegrass Bash at The Brown County Playhouse

Enjoy an evening of pure live, regional bluegrass with the fun and talented Blue Collar Bluegrass Band, featuring Bob & Tom Show Producer Dean Metcalf. This show is a benefit for Shriners Hospitals for Children. Opening act to be announced. Come early at 5:30 p.m. for a pre-show party. $50 includes party, buffet, admission, and priority seating. Concert only tickets are $15.

"Working hard in sharing bluegrass music." The Blue Collar Bluegrass Band consists of friends that have been picking together for a few years. Each member shares the same passion for traditional bluegrass as well as "newgrass" music. The band name Blue Collar Bluegrass represents the down-to-earth, hardworking attitudes that each member shares for life, work, and music. Band members include Mike Grimmitt - Guitar/Vocals, Mark Roembke - Guitar/Vocals, Carl Strohm - Fiddle Vocals, Jason Strohm - Banjo/Vocals, Dean Metcalf - Bass / Vocals, and Bill Haggard - Mandolin / Vocals.

Enjoy a delightful evening of Brown County's most talented residents, produced and emcee'd by Kara Barnard as a fundraiser for the BETA Teen Center! The show features a variety of ensembles, solos, and duets with participants ranging from 6 years to 18 years old (plus a few *older* guest artists)!. There will also be a silent auction before the show - proceeds go to benefit the Beta Teen Center!
