Weed Patch Music Company is under new ownership as of September, 29th, 2016! New co-owners, Kristin Thompson and Kara Barnard, are happy to be re-opened and are looking forward to meeting you all!
New co-owner Kristin Thompson is living her dream come true as part owner to this unique and independent music store in Brown County, Indiana. Kristin began taking guitar lessons as a kid from Tom Pickett's Music Center in Columbus, Indiana, but really found her passion in the banjo with instructor and Weed Patch co-owner Kara Barnard. With Kara's excellent instruction, Kristin was able to learn and improve her pickin' skills. Kristin comes from a family of bluegrass pickers, square dance callers, and foot stompers, and some of her favorite memories include pickin' her banjo while her 90-year old grandmother sang along!! While the banjo will always remain number one, you can now find Kristin dabbling in a variety of other instruments, as well. Stop by the store to get to know Kristin today!
As the original owner of Weed Patch Music Company, Kara Barnard is excited to be back in the business again! Kara is a nationally recognized multi-instrumentalist, a highly sought after instructor, accomplished singer and songwriter, and talented artist. You'd be hard-pressed to find an instrument that Kara can't play! And, with a roster of over 50 students in all styles and levels of guitar, banjo, dulcimer, and mandolin, she has plenty of opportunities to show off her skills and pass on her knowledge.
